 Christine "Chris" Kubota was born and raised in Japan and moved to Hawaii to pursue her education. She received her B.A. in International Relations and Asian Studies from Chaminade University and her J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific. During law school, Chris was an editor of The Transnational Lawyer, and was awarded various scholarships. She was also active in the Pacific International Law Society and the Asian American Law Student Association. Chris is a past director at Meritas, a worldwide affiliation of commercial law firms, which has members in over 270 cities. Damon Key is the exclusive Hawaii affiliate of Meritas. Chris focuses on Japanese-speaking clients and practices in immigration law, estate planning, employment matters and business and commercial disputes. She is also an active volunteer in the community and has sat on the Board of Directors for various groups including United Japanese Society, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Meritas. She is currently active in Waialae Country Club, Supreme Court Committee on Certification of Court Interpreters, Japan-America Society of Honolulu and Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
